51% of Australians made changes to their working life during the pandemic

This figure really stopped me in my tracks.

1 in 5 Australian workers have changed their careers in the last 2 years.

The Great Resignation. The Great Reshuffle. The Big Quit. The Great Exhaustion. Whatever you choose to call it, experts have been predicting its arrival in Australia in February 2022.

The Career Change Monitor reveals that a significant proportion of Australian workers have already chosen to change their employment arrangements in the last two years, and are considering making further changes in the next 12 months.

A staggering 51% or 5.3M chose to alter their work arrangements over the last 2 years, and make one or more of the following changes – move jobs, switch industries, change careers or reduce their hours.

41% reported they changed jobs, industries, or careers (i.e. both job/role and industry), while 15% said they chose to reduce their hours.

18%, or 1.86 million workers aged 18+ say they are considering not just changing jobs, but changing their career in the next 12 months.

The report also shows that the so-called Great Resignation is not just the domain of younger ‘purpose-oriented professionals’ re-evaluating how they want to work and what they want to do.

Non-white-collar workers are more likely than white-collar workers to consider a career change in the next 12 months and this is being driven more by men than women.

Interesting no?!
